WELCOME, I’m JUSTINE JOYA.
Originally from Los Angeles, I come from a large Mexican and Filipino family. I made my way to Northern California to attend college at the University of California, Davis. I was a collegiate rugby player during my time at UC Davis, and I majored in Women’s Studies and Sociology both with an emphasis in law and gender politics.
I attended law school at the University of San Francisco School of Law where I was fortunate to learn from some of the most dedicated and thoughtful attorneys in their field. Passionate about fighting the good fight, I participated in my law school’s Racial Justice Clinic providing free legal services to individuals facing criminal charges and/or Title IX accusations and possible expulsion from their universities. My work with the Racial Justice Clinic earned me the Public Interest Law Certificate, an award honoring students committed to serving marginalized communities.
In 2019 I relocated to Oakland seeking a fresh start as I prepared for the bar exam. Oakland greeted me with its warmth and authenticity, and the rest is history. Now, five years into my legal career, I am honored to serve the same community that took me in despite my fandom and loyalty to the Los Angeles Lakers.
I pride myself with providing the emotional support and legal guidance required in all family law matters. I understand that every relationship and situation is unique, and I develop personalized strategies and solutions aligned with each client’s individual circumstances and goals.
I have extensive litigation experience and look forward to the opportunity to advocate on behalf of my clients in court. However, I also recognize that litigation can take both a financial and emotional toll. This awareness drives me to explore collaborative solutions that may better serve my clients' long-term interests.
While specific outcomes can never be guaranteed, what I can promise is unwavering dedication to your case, coupled with thoughtful, transparent, and expert counsel every step of the way. I’m Justine and I can’t wait to meet you!
“Justine helped with my case for over a year. She always responded quickly with any questions I had and gave great advice on what to expect in court. We were able to get the custody agreement I wanted and helped me feel sane while dealing with the stress of court. I highly recommend Justine and am sad to close out my case with her.” - Sarah
